There’s something uniquely tender about watching a child step into the role of older sibling. During newborn photo sessions, that moment when a big brother meets his new baby for the first time in front of the camera—it’s pure magic.
Recently, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful growing family. Big brother, with his wide eyes and gentle curiosity, sat confidently while his tiny sibling snuggled in close. These early portraits are such a sweet way to honor the shifting dynamic of a family and the special bond that’s already beginning to form.
I always take care to pace newborn sessions gently—allowing plenty of time for snuggles, feeding breaks, and little moments of calm. When older siblings are involved, I give them space to feel comfortable and proud in their new role, offering soft guidance and encouragement so we can capture those heartfelt, unscripted connections.
Whether it’s a tender forehead kiss, a small hand resting protectively near baby, or simply the wonder in a big brother’s eyes—these are the details that make newborn sessions with siblings so meaningful.
If you’re expecting and thinking about scheduling your session, know that including your older child adds so much richness to the story we get to tell together. These are fleeting, beautiful days—and I’d love to help you preserve them.
