Perspective
Life is all about your P.O.V. … point of view in other words. I have always been told to look at life from a different perspective, particularly when I am visiting the pity pot. Life is all about your point of view, your paradigm, your out look. You are the only one that can control your spin on a situation. Even when there are many truths that lead you to the path you are on, you are the only one that can make the shift from where you are currently, to where you want to be tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that. It is a conscious choice that you get to make. I have recently ran into people that have mentioned that I am fairly successful, which to be quite honest I have been feeling the exact opposite. Then it hit me that I am the one with the measuring stick.
According to these people, from their p.o.v. I am doing well and am well on my way to my ultimate goal, and they see that as success. Where as I see the goal as being so far off in the distance that success is the last word I would use to describe where I am in the grand scheme of life.
How do you measure success? I took a moment or two…days…thinking about how I could really be considered successful with my current state, and decided that I have many goals in life that I have yet to accomplish and/or achieve but there are many things that I already have and for that I am thankful and truly grateful for.
You are successful in what you do even if all you have had is the courage to try, at least it was the success of getting your hands dirty.
In lieu of Father’s Day I will leave you with what my Dad always told me…and still tells me today…. ” I do not care about the out come, all I care about is that that you tried and you gave it all you had.” …and that you are safe.
…this stemmed from my Dad encouraging me in my school. He struggled in school and prayed every day that my sister and I would be blessed to bypass his difficulties. He always wanted me to know that regardless of what grade I received he would always love me, but he wanted me to have given it my all, and to have no regrets.
